Die archäologische Stätte von Arkasa, einer der vier Überreste der klassischen Antike, besteht aus der Akropolis von Palaiokastro mit Resten einer archaischen Festung, die durch Türme der klassischen und hellenistischen Periode verstärkt wurde. Erhebliche Überreste anderer Gebäude, einschließlich Wasserzisternen, sind auch in einem guten Erhaltungszustand erhalten.

Rund um das Gelände sind zahlreiche Gebäude und Wasserzisternen in einem vernünftigen Erhaltungszustand erhalten. Darunter befinden sich die Fundamente einer frühchristlichen Basilika mit halbrunden Apsiden und monolithischen Marmorsäulen. N-NE von Palaiokastro erstreckt sich über die Ebene von Arkasa mit zwei seit der Antike genutzten Häfen. Zwei frühchristliche Basiliken wurden zwischen 1912 und 1940 von italienischen Archäologen ausgegraben. Die größte und den Häfen am nächsten gelegene ist unter dem Namen eines Spenders, dem Presbyter Alypus, bekannt. Nach ihrer Zerstörung im frühen 6. Jahrhundert wurde die Basilika wieder aufgebaut und mit herrlichen Mosaikpflasterungen mit Inschriften versehen, die den Bischof Cyrus erwähnen. Der Name der Heiligen, der die Kirche geweiht wurde, St. Anastasia. Die zweite Basilika ist die des Presbyter Eucharistos. Drei weitere Basiliken wurden in Arkasa identifiziert, von denen eine, die dem hl. Michael gewidmet ist, eine Grabkirche war. An der Ostseite der Siedlung stehen zwei mittelbyzantinische Kirchen, Panagia i Marmarini und hl. George.
